In "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," season two, the plot continues directly after the events of the Mugen Train arc. After their terrifying battle on the train, Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu have survived; yet, they are still in shock over the death of Rengoku, a fellow Demon Slayer and comrade.
Tanjiro is driven to get stronger to defend his loved ones and vanquish the demons that are causing him pain because he is haunted by Rengoku's sacrifice. As the Twelve Kizuki, an elite squad of demons under the strong Muzan Kibutsuji, grow increasingly active and aggressive in their desire to exterminate the Demon Slayers, the Demon Slayer Corps is faced with new problems.
The highest-ranking Demon Slayers, the Hashira, send Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke a message while they work relentlessly to hone their abilities. The telegram has some very bad news: Muzan's presence has been discovered in a far-off area, and the Demon Slayers have been summoned to look into and remove this serious menace.
Along the way, the gang encounters unexpected allies and frightening monsters on their treacherous adventure. They meet new Demon Slayer Corps members along the way, each with special skills and heartbreaking histories. Tanjiro discovers more about his family's ties to Muzan and the beginnings of the demon ancestry via their struggles and conflicts.
The Twelve Kizuki, meantime, are still wreaking havoc, taking innocent lives and causing mayhem wherever they go. Tanjiro and his companions battle several formidable demons, with each encounter testing their mettle. They succeed in defeating a few of the Twelve Kizuki thanks to their unwavering will and newly discovered power, and they also pick up invaluable information and experience.
Tanjiro's will to save mankind deepens as their trip goes on, strengthened by the sacrifices made by his allies and the memories of his family. It is the biggest test the Demon Slayer Corps has ever faced as they square up against Muzan Kibutsuji in a pivotal fight that puts their fortitude, resiliency, and brotherhood to the test.
